Brush horrors lead mums to love the Loogun

The Loogun is the hygienic, child-safe and chemical-free way to clean your toilet using nothing but clean water

London, July 22, 2015 - Everything in our home is being updated using modern design and new technology, yet we still keep a brush next to the toilet that is filthy, drips on the floor and contains toxic chemicals. Catching your toddler holding a toilet brush is a parent’s worst nightmare. The Loogun is a new invention designed to replace the toilet brush and is set to become the next British technological innovation to revolutionise the way we do everyday things.

The Loogun is a hand-held motorised device that easily cleans off stubborn marks above and below the water in a toilet using nothing but a sharp spray of clean water. The Loogun works every time without splashback and, as it never touches the toilet, the device stays hygienic and enjoyable to use.

The neutral and sleek design looks good in any bathroom. It is simple to use, requires no installation and uses 4 x AA batteries which last for 9 months if used once a day. The reservoir holds 300ml of clean water, enough for around 6 uses, and it detaches with a simple click to make it easy to fill under any tap.

The Loogun team has spent 2 years in design and engineering, and have utility and design patents pending in 29 countries. To help fund the production costs, the team is aiming to raise £40,000 ($63,000) through a Kickstarter campaign and has already raised 75% of the target with 18 days still remaining.

The Loogun, which has been designed to be child-friendly, resonates strongly with parents. Many of the Loogun’s 725 backers to date on Kickstarter are mums. Through Facebook parenting groups they are sharing hair-raising stories of their children’s exploits with the dreaded toilet brush. From a boy who tried to brush his teeth with it, to one found drinking the fluid from the toilet brush holder, leaving mum “emotionally scarred ever since”. Another mum recalls “I still remember the horror of finding my precious first born sucking merrily on a loo brush”.

Beyond gaining market acceptance for a new product, a big benefit of running a public campaign is the exposure to the industry. During the Kickstarter campaign we have been approached by representatives of the largest TV shopping channel in the US. We have also had interest from the innovation departments of two of the world’s largest FMCG companies, and one of the largest sanitary companies in the Middle East. Contacts of this level could otherwise take a lot longer to establish.
